Battle the Dark Side with Star Wars Bedding

“May the Force be with you!” in decorating your child’s room in a Star Wars theme. Actually, you won’t need the entire Force, but maybe just one or two ideas to tie the whole room together. Because manufactures know just how popular this theme is and how it shows no signs of slowing down, you can find a whole range of Star Wars items to work with.

One of the easiest ways to create a Star Wars room is to start with Star Wars bedding. This bedding can be found just about anywhere from online retailers to your local big box store. Many times, the comforter will also come with a matching sheet set to make sure the look is complete. In some instances, you can also get the curtain and window valance, too.

You don’t have to buy all these items however especially if your budget is limited. You can get away with plain jersey sheets which are great for kids’ beds and simple window treatments.

Once you have purchased the bedding, the next step is to address the walls. Because Star Wars bedding usually come in darker blues or blacks, you are going to want to balance it out with lighter wall covering. The same is true if you also already have a dark carpet or wood in the bedroom. The dark floor combined with the dark wool bedspread will have to be balanced.

One way to do this is by replacing the carpet or adding a smaller rug on top in a lighter color. On the other hand, you can also go with a slightly darker wall paint and add lighter colored blinds or curtains.  This too will help balance the room. If the bedroom gets a lot of light and is naturally bright, this might be the way to go. In addition, keep both the paint and draperies a neutral color so when you child wants to change the theme, you can do so with relative ease.

Be careful in these situations about have too much of a good thing. It is easy to get carried away and add too many accessories or to have the colors so dark, it appears that you are walking into a cave. Keep at least part of the room light and add a touch of color where you can. Remember everything in moderation and you should be just fine.

Certainly, there are many advantages to choosing blinds over curtains.  First, blinds are much cheaper compared with good quality curtains.  Second, there is also very little chance of them fading so soon under sunlight as curtains usually do. And last, they are easier and cheaper to clean.

A lot of homeowners, however, still prefer curtains over blinds and will actually suffer the disadvantages just to hang breezy, light colored curtains in their homes.  Curtains come in many varieties of style, size, shape, and most importantly, brand name.  Prices vary but it will not be hard to find a curtain that not only complements a room’s style or decor but one that falls within a certain budget.

When choosing curtains, don’t limit yourself to just the aesthetics but also consider practical matters.  For instance, you may perhaps consider buying machine-washed types of curtains which are cheaper and much easier to maintain.  Those that combine cotton and polyester are good quality curtains that are also easy to maintain and will insure that they last for a long time.

If you’re the type who likes to sleep late with the windows totally blacked out, blackout curtains might be your style.  Blackout curtains are often costly but not really pricey since they work like a nice set of blinds would – darkening the bedroom, especially in the mornings when the sun is shining bright from outside your home.

Surprisingly, some homeowners install both curtains and blinds in their homes. This is actually quite a good combination, especially if the blinds go with an attractive set of opaque curtains.  If you’re not sure how to mix and match both materials, Google the pictures online or look for good combinations in a catalog.

Baby Bedding and Dresses

So you are expecting a child and are now making preparations for your baby’s needs. Well, congratulations. Motherhood is certainly one of the best human experiences one can have. There are a few things to keep in mind when choosing baby bedding.

First, you need to make sure that the crib or the cot bed does not have too many objects in it. Pillows are a no-no because they can lead to suffocation. The same applies to stuffed toys. It would be best to remove these toys when leaving your baby to sleep at night. When it comes to bedding, keep in mind that a rather large quilt or blanket can compromise safety. If you are using a crib, remember to fasten the crib joints securely and to remove strings around it.

Now that safety concerns are out of the way, it is time to think about the design and color scheme of the bed. Make it a point to choose bright colors to enhance your child’s color perception and eyesight. The more variety of colors, the better.

Once your child turns 20 months old, you may now introduce larger blankets or cot bed duvet to keep him or her warm at night. Select very soft fabrics for the cot bed duvet to avoid allergies and discomfort. A duvet is a good investment especially if you are planning to have more babies in the future.

Another thing that you might want to consider is suits for toddlers which would come handy during formal occasions. Whether it’s for going to church or other formal celebrations, wearing a suit would train your child to dress properly and accordingly as he grows up. You can look online for the best deals on these toddler suits.
